Choosing the right size for your DTF transfer is one of the most common questions we hear from new customers. Order too small and the design gets lost on a large shirt. Order too large and it overlaps seams or looks overwhelming. This guide covers standard sizing recommendations for every garment type.

T-shirt prints are measured by width × height. Here are the most common placements:

Note: For structured caps with buckram, use a hat press instead of a flat heat press for best results.

How to Measure Placement Correctly

  1. Lay the garment flat and smooth out any wrinkles
  2. Measure from the collar seam down — standard adult front chest placement starts 3"–4" below the collar
  3. Center horizontally — measure from side seam to side seam and mark the midpoint
  4. Use a ruler or placement tool to position the transfer before pressing
