Heat Press
Instructions

Our cold-peel DTF transfers are easy to apply and deliver 100+ wash durability when pressed correctly. Follow these steps every time for perfect results.

6-Step Application Process

1

Pre-Press

Pre-press your garment for 3–5 seconds before applying the transfer. This removes excess moisture and wrinkles, creating a flat, dry surface for better adhesion — especially important on thick fabrics like hoodies and sweatshirts.

2

Position the Transfer

Place the transfer printed-side down onto the garment. Center and align the design carefully. Use a ruler or alignment guide for consistent placement. Avoid pressing over seams, zippers, or buttons.

3

Heat Press Settings

Press at 300–315°F (150–160°C) with firm pressure for 10–13 seconds. Close the press fully and do not lift during the press cycle. Exact settings vary by fabric — refer to the table below for specifics.

4

Cold Peel

After pressing, remove the garment from the platen and wait 10–15 seconds for the transfer film to cool. Then peel slowly at a low angle (15–30°) starting from one corner. Never hot-peel — pulling too soon can lift the ink.

5

Re-Press

After peeling, cover the print area with a sheet of parchment or silicone paper and press again for 3–5 seconds. This final press locks the adhesive, boosts wash durability, and gives the print a smoother, finished look.

6

Wash Care

Wait at least 24 hours before the first wash. Turn garment inside out, wash in cold water, and tumble dry low. Do not iron directly on the print. Do not dry clean. Following these steps ensures 100+ washes of durability.

Settings by Fabric Type

Use the chart below to dial in your exact settings. When in doubt, start at the lower temperature and increase by 5°F if adhesion is poor.

Pro Tips for Best Results

  • Do NOT press on seams, zippers, or buttons — uneven pressure causes lifting and damaged prints.
  • Always use parchment paper on the re-press — never press bare film or directly against a shiny platen cover.
  • Pre-pressing is essential on thick fabrics like hoodies and heavyweight tees — skipping it leads to poor adhesion from trapped moisture.
  • Calibrate your press regularly — home-use machines can drift in temperature. Use a heat gun or temp tape to verify accuracy.
  • Even pressure matters — adjust the pressure knob so the platen makes full, uniform contact across the entire print area.
  • If edges lift after peeling, do a quick 2-second spot re-press with parchment over the lifted edge before it cools completely.
