Applying a DTF transfer is simple — but small mistakes can lead to peeling or dull colors. Here is the step-by-step process used by professional decorators.
What You Need
- A heat press (clamshell or swing-away)
- Your DTF transfer from Raleigh Transfers
- Parchment paper or Teflon sheet
- The garment you want to decorate
Step 1 — Pre-Press the Garment
Pre-press for 3-5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. This ensures a flat, clean surface for the transfer to bond to.
Step 2 — Position the Transfer
Place the transfer printed-side down on the garment. Make sure it is centered and straight before pressing.
Step 3 — Apply Heat and Pressure
Press at 300-315°F (150-160°C) with firm pressure for 10-13 seconds. Do not press on seams, zippers, or thick stitching areas.
Step 4 — Cold Peel
Let the transfer cool for 10-15 seconds before peeling the carrier film. Peeling while hot causes the print to lift. Peel slowly and at a low angle.
Step 5 — Re-Press
Cover the print with parchment paper and press again for 3-5 seconds. This seals the edges and maximizes wash durability.
Wash Instructions
Wait 24 hours before washing. Turn garment inside out, wash cold, and tumble dry low. Do not iron directly on the print.
